I arrived at our clients home for a two system tuneup inspection. I began by testing the checking the larger 5 ton unit for the main home. I began with the outdoor condenser unit and found the contactor to have burn points and the hard start kit have been compromised by rodents. The Compressor had extremely high start amps and I showed this to our client today. We discussed the option to replace the hard start kit and the contactor as well as cleaning the indoor blower motor that had significant dust on it. I proceeded to check and inspect the mini split unit for the smaller boys room. This unit was not running within manufacture specification and with only a 5° temperature demand, I could see that frost was already started to build up on the line set. I Showed this to our client and we discussed the options for replacement. We scheduled a consultation to remove the unit and install a conventional split system For both bedrooms.
